Ian Lloyd (b. Ian Buonconsiglio, 1947, Seattle) is an American rock singer and songwriter, best known as the lead singer of the band Stories, whose single “Brother Louie” was No. 1 on the
Billboard Top 100 chart in 1973. Lloyd later sang backup vocals for the band Foreigner, among
others, as well as developed a solo career.
James Douglas Vallance (born May 31, 1952 in Chilliwack, British Columbia) is a Canadian
musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He was the drummer for the Canadian rock band Prism, and is known for co-writing hits such as “Summer of ‘69” with Bryan Adams and “Rag Doll” with Aerosmith. As of 2008 Vallance has worked with Adams on seven studio albums. Vallance first release with Prism was their self-titled debut which was a commercial success, in 1980 Vallance left Prism to work with Adams on his debut album. Vallance has worked with Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Ozzy Osbourne and Joe Cocker. Vallance is a member of the Order of Canada.
Bruce Earl Fairbairn (December 30, 1949 - May 17, 1999) was a Canadian rock music producer who was prominent during the 1980s and 1990s. Fairbairn was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and learned to play the trumpet; as a teen he appeared in local R&B groups. At the age of 30 he won his first of three Canadian Juno “Producer of the Year” awards for his work on Prism’s 1980 album Armageddon. Loverboy’s self-titled debut album began his career of hits with “Turn Me Loose” and “The Kid Is Hot Tonite.” His work for Blue Öyster Cult (1983’s The Revölution by Night) and Krokus’ (1984 The Blitz) made him a well-known hard-rock producer. With protegé Bob Rock, Fairbairn established Vancouver’s Little Mountain Sound Studios.
In 1986 Fairbairn produced Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, which to date, sold over twenty-six
million copies. His next major production, Aerosmith’s 1987 album Permanent Vacation, generated a series of hits including “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)”, “Angel” and “Rag Doll”. Fairbairn also produced the band’s follow-up, 1989’s Pump, which had sales in excess of seven million and was widely acclaimed by critics, and won him another “Producer of the Year” Juno Award.
Jimmy Lowell was a member of RIff Raff, Spider and Shang-hai and toured with Link Wray.
Robert Jens Rock, aka Bob Rock (born 19 April 1954 in Winnipeg, Manitoba), is a Canadian
musician, sound engineer, and record producer. Rock began his career in Langford, British Columbia (a suburb of Victoria) as a guitarist playing with friends William Alexander and Paul Hyde in the former’s household basement. After high school graduation, Rock left Victoria and became the co-founder of the Payola$, who became well known for their ‘80s hit, “Eyes of a Stranger”, which was used as part of the soundtrack of the movie Valley Girl starring Nicolas Cage. In 1983, the Payola$ won the Juno Award for Single of the year. He also worked as an assistant at Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver. In 1987, the Payola$ (who had previously changed their name to Paul Hyde and the Payolas) changed their name to Rock and Hyde and had a hit single in Canada with the song “Dirty Water”. Rock is best known for giving bands such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe a more elaborate record production. He has also worked with Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Cher, The Cult, David Lee Roth, Skid Row, Veruca Salt, Nina Gordon, Our Lady Peace, The Tragically Hip, The Tea Party, Lostprophets, American Hi-Fi and Simple Plan.
After being promoted to Head Engineer at Applewood, Beau Hill got his first production job working for “Chicago” producer and Caribou Ranch Studios owner James Guercio. During this time period Beau honed his production skills after hours at Applewood doing demos with his band “Airborne”. These demos caught the ear of veteran producer Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Whitesnake, Grateful Dead). 1978 “Airborne” signed a major recording contract with Columbia Records and a management contract with Irving Azoff and Bob Buziak at Frontline Management. Keith Olsen produced the debut album in LA. 1980 Beau moved to New York City, signed with Chrysalis Records and Aucion Management (Kiss, Billy Idol), and recorded the debut album with his new group “Shanghai”, produced by Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock.
